IS BEING A FATHER A GOOD FATHER?

IS BEING A FATHER A GOOD FATHER?

Being a father is not just enough. Being a father does not mean you are a good father. Being a father does not mean you are your children’s best friend. Will your children respect you?—Sure, they will! Because you are their father. But being a father does not mean your children will always respect you from their heart. Being a father does not mean you are the best. Being a father does not mean you are the most loved in the family. Being a father does not always mean you are the provider of the family.
It is not just enough to be the father of your children. It is not just enough to provide food, clothing, shelter, and education for your family. No, it is not enough— you must be a good father to your children, a father that will make the children feel at home and at ease whenever they are around him. Do not be a threat to your family, especially to your children.

BUT WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A GOOD FATHER?

To be a good father, you must show love, upon love, and upon love to your family. You must show your family that you really care deeply about them. How?

BE A GOOD LISTENER: Many times, children need someone to talk to, both in smaller matters and in bigger matters. First thing a father needs to do, is to make his children feel comfortable and welcomed around him. If a father doesn’t make his children feel that way, the children will be afraid to talk to the father freely. And if a father don’t know how to listen, especially to his children, the children will be afraid to go close to the father or even talk to the father when they are faced with problems— especially in school. When a father knows how to make the children feel at ease at home and make them feel comfortable,  and always ready to listen to his children, that makes a father a little good father. So dear father, be a good listener, and not a bad listener.

BE A GOOD TALKER: A father should always talk to his children. This will make the children know that the father cares deeply about them. But talking does not mean shouting or saying abusive words to the children. It means, saying words that promote love and happiness in the family, saying words that builds up the family emotionally, saying words that brings the family together in peace and in unity. Remember that words can either heal a person, or tear a person down. So therefore, a father needs to choose his words carefully, examine them, before pouring them out to the children. What a father say to his children will either leads to one of the child’s sucess in the future, or leads to the the child’s failure. What a father say to his children will either make the child be a good person in the future, or it will make the child a bad person to the society. What a father say to his children will either make the children to love and deeply appreciate him in the future, or it will make the children to dislike and never remember their father again— and that is something a loving father will never pray for to happen to his children. So dear father,  be a good talker, but not a bad talker.

BE A COMEDIAN: Children love it so much when their father always makes them laugh and happy. It touches them deeply and they never forget it. They love it to the extent that some children even wish not to grow up quickly. Why? Because, the father is a comedian. What does it mean for a father to be a comedian to their children? A father must be ready to make his children happy when they are sad, a father must be ready to make his children smile when they cry, a father must be ready to make his children laugh when the environment is dull, a father must be ready at all times, to bring out the happiness and laughter in the children.
In what ways can a father become a comedian to their children? First, father must be alert, know when they are happy and when they are sad. Second, father must create an environment where the children will find joy and laughter, and forget their sadness. The same way comedians create an environment full of joy and laughter for their audience, so a father must do the same or even more for his children. So dear father, be a good comedian, and not a bad and boring comedian.

BE A SINGER: When a child is crying, people sometimes carry the child, curdle the child and sing for the child in other for the child to stop crying. But when the child has grown old, some persons will leave the child and cares no more about the child. Father’s should always be a singer to their children even when they have grown. When a father sings for a child, it makes the child know that someone cares about him or her, this will make the child to stop crying. Or you can say, this will make the child to worry less or even no more. So dear father, be a good singer, and not a boring singer.

BE AN ACTOR: Children needs someone to play with, in other words, to act with. And the best play-mate a child can get, is the father. Father must be ready and willing to play or act with his child or children. When a father plays with the children, it teaches the child or the children, that their father is not just a father, but the best daddy in the world. So dear father, don’t just be an actor, but the best actor in the world.

BE A DESIGNER: Just the same way a fashion designer designs a beautiful dress for his or her customers and make them happy, so to, a father must be a good designer to make the children happy. Not a designer of clothes, but a good designer of  happiness, joy, peace, togetherness, one spirit, and above all, LOVE among the family. So dear father, don’t just be a good designer, but be a professional designer.
So, remember, being a father does not always mean you are a good father, because there is more to being a father.
So dear father, never stop loving your children. Never stop caring for your children. Never stop providing for your children. Continue to do so, and you will find the joy of being a good father and the best daddy in the whole wide world!

Love to all fathers.
